Soft cloth elephant

£19.00
The natural dyes and considered cotton eyes make this indigo elephant ideal for even the smallest children. Each elephant is also made from the offcuts in the Nila House Studio, meaning there’s less fabric going to waste. These elephants are the perfect companion to welcome a newborn to the world.

They are made in India, where Nila House is based and works with communities of craftspeople. Nila House want to keep traditional skills alive and allow makers to earn a decent living from their work. Their commitment to natural dyes also reduces pollution.

Nila House was founded in 2019 by Carole Bamford. She was working in India and realised that there were craft communities who were struggling because of a lack of tools and lack of access to people who wanted to buy their products. The Nila House project was the result.

Many of their items are dyed with indigo (Nila means blue in Sanskrit), so when all of their work is viewed en masse the effect is incredibly soothing. And we can only hope that every elephant will have the same effect on a baby.

Around 30cm long - cuddle size

Please note that elephant is sold as a collector's item. It has not been professionally tested for children's use to comply with British and EU standards.
