Jute storage basket

This is an all-purpose storage basket, that will look chic filled with towels and won’t fall apart at the seams if it ends up being stuffed with kindling for your fire or Lego and doll parts and any of the other tiny miscellaneous bits of plastic that kids seem to attract (we know, we said we’d only have wooden toys too…).

This rectangular storage bag is handmade in Bangladesh, woven from natural jute fibres, with robust handles.

We’re impressed by the durability of this basket and by the versatility. And we’re always looking for storage solutions, so that’s a win. 

The other winners are the women in Bangladesh who make them, using traditional craft skills to create these very contemporary products. All of Maison Bengal’s products are produced in conjunction with three fair trade organisations, using locally grown materials. They provide steady work, helping to lift women and their families out of poverty.
