Social Shrub - cocktail and soda base

Social Shrub is not a bushy little plant that likes to party, as we originally thought.
It’s a delicious, naturally alcohol-free cocktail base, a revival of a historical recipe to preserve surplus seasonal fruit that would otherwise go to waste. Shrubs are drinks made from fruit, herbs and spices combined with vinegars and natural sugars.

The Social Drinking Company takes seasonal fruit, organic apple cider vinegar, unrefined sugar, herbs and spices to create small handmade batches of Social Shrub.
Social Shrub is excellent as a base for cocktails as it makes a tangy and complex drink (with or without alcohol). We love it mixed with sparkling water, lots of ice and a slice of lemon.

Not only are they alcohol free, they are all natural, free from any preservatives, gluten free and vegan.

They may not be a bushy little plant, but we would like to party with them.

The seasonal flavours created for this month are grapefruit and rosemary; strawberry, hibiscus and lime; orange and cardamom.

Pink Grapefruit and Rosemary (pink bottle)
Refreshing and sharp with a hint of rosemary. Delicious with sparkling water ice and a slice of grapefruit. For a tasty spring cocktail, try it mixed with gin and tonic.

Strawberry, Hibiscus and Lime (green bottle)
Fresh and fruity with a citrus tang. Fabulous as an aqua fresca with ice, a slice of lime and some sparking water. Makes a great Bellini with sparkling wine.

Orange and Cardamom (orange bottle)
Zingy with subtle top notes of Cardamom. Try on the rocks or as a shrub whisky sour, shaking equal parts whisky and shrub with ice and a little egg white.

Social Shrub tastes great in a really sophisticated way. The natural ingredients mellow over time to create a complex zingy flavour with a low sugar content . We think they are yet another brilliant addition to the increased demand for  ‘fantastic alcohol-free drinks for adults’.  

The Social Drinking Company donate £5 from every bottle to a local food poverty charity.  For this Different Kind batch, £5 from every bottle is being donated to Refettorio Felix, a charity providing a living and dining experience for the vulnerable in the Earl's Court community in SW London.

500ml reusable bottle (we love to put flowers in ours). Shake well before use. Dilute 50ml to taste with whatever you fancy: water, tonic, sparkling wine. Pop in the fridge once opened.
