Hand-woven woollen throw
Each throw is made in one of the two textile workshops run by Garvald across the Lothians. Garvald work with adults with learning difficulties, providing the space and guidance needed to unlock creativity and produce work.
These throws are a great example of that creative process - each one is completely unique and can never be replicated. Perfect all round.
We’re really proud to have unique pieces, like these hand-loomed throws, on the site. Showing off the skills of the producers who partner with us is a huge part of our mission, and exclusive pieces like this are the natural end point of that.
Garvald also believe in showcasing talent. They work with adults with learning disabilities creating an environment that is part art school, part co-working space and where confidence can flow.
Woven on a handloom in Edinburgh by Joseph, one of the Garvald makers. Joseph is a prolific weaver who works very quickly, and deftly selects colours and ratios that work.
Made from factory-end New Lanark 100% wool that is exquisitely soft and durable. New Lanark Mills are renowned for spinning Soil Association-approved yarns on hydroelectric powered machines at their World Heritage site.
