Champagne glass

£12.00

When we were younger and living in house shares, bubbles were a rare treat - but generally sloshed into whatever receptacle was nearest. The benefit of adulthood is being able to do things well and appreciate that a good glass makes all the difference to a drinking experience.

These are listed as champagne glasses. But if you aren’t a drinker of sparkling wine then a high-end kombucha, like the one we stock from Holos, is also a pleasure. These from Ngwenya are made entirely from recycled glass, are hand blown by workers trained by experts from, amongst other places, the renowned Murano glass factory in Venice.

Ngwenya are a win for us on so many levels. Their products are elegant and great quality. Everything is made from recycled glass, with much of it collected by the surrounding community who are then paid for their work. They also provide the area with skilled, stable jobs in the factory itself.

Then - and this is just brilliant - they run their furnace on old cooking oil collected from KFC outlets. What’s not to love?

Minor bubbles, blowing lines and variations in height and thickness are unavoidable in mouth blown glass and constitute clearest proof of an article individually handmade from 100% recycled glass.
