Margin Napkins

£9.00
These crisp cotton napkins have a geometric pattern that reminds us of the lines in a clean, fresh notebook. What stories will be written around your table?

The napkins are made in India, where Nila House is based and works with communities of craftspeople. Nila House wants to keep traditional skills alive and allow makers to earn a decent living from their work.

The cotton for these particular items was handwoven in Murshidabad and the tassels were hand-made and stitched by the women connected to Nila House’s sister organisation, LBCT. A matching tablecloth is available.

Nila House was founded in 2019 by Carole Bamford. She was working in India and realised that there were craft communities who were struggling because of a lack of tools and lack of access to people who wanted to buy their products. The Nila House project was the result.

Many of their items are dyed with indigo (Nila means blue in Sanskrit), so when all of their work is viewed en masse the effect is incredibly soothing.

100% handloom cotton with natural dye details.

Hand wash separately in cold water and dry in the shade as the natural green colour may fade slightly over time, with exposure to direct sunlight. The textile may carry subtle irregularities - this is a part of the beauty of handwoven textiles.
