£95.00
Made of pure cotton and with a hand-embroidered pattern reminiscent of soft lapping waves, this quilt is a wonderful addition to any nursery.
The quilts are made in India, where Nila House is based and works with communities of craftspeople. Nila House wants to keep traditional skills alive and allow makers to earn a decent living from their work.
This particular piece has been quilted and stitched by the women of Shakti Samuha, a self-help group affiliated with Nila. Nila has been providing them with training in tailoring and embroidery to enhance their skills and prospects for additional income generation.

Nila House was founded in 2019 by Carole Bamford. She was working in India and realised that there were craft communities who were struggling because of a lack of tools and lack of access to people who wanted to buy their products. The Nila House project was the result.
Many of their items are dyed with indigo (Nila means blue in Sanskrit), so when all of their work is viewed en masse the effect is incredibly soothing.
100% cotton.
