Grace Chocolates
- Location Stirling, central Scotland
- Working on Building skills and support networks for women touched by the Criminal Justice System.
Grace Chocolates have the honour of being the first producer to work with us on a Different Made product. Different Made is our own brand, featuring products developed by us in collaboration with a maker. The vegan-friendly chocolate-coated honeycomb produced by Grace has been a hit with everyone who’s tried it.
They also turn out a range of incredible handmade chocolates and they’ve been doing so since 2017. Founder Joyce Murray was a volunteer at Cornton Vale HMP and, having heard the stories of the women, felt that something needed to be done.
The first batch of Grace Chocolates was made in the kitchen of a local church. Now there is a dedicated production facility, office space and the ability to support 35 women a year.
Why they are different:
A handmade chocolate is always a beautiful thing and everything made by Grace is the product of careful attention. They favour natural ingredients and their range offers vegan, gluten-free and nut-free options.
Why they are kind:
Many of the women in the justice system have experienced abuse and trauma and many live with mental health issues. Grace Chocolates provide valuable workplace training. But it’s also an environment where mistakes can be made, learned from and left behind. For the women working there it shows that an error needn’t be catastrophic and that self-belief can be built.
