Blantyre upcycled glass storage jars with mahogany lids

£48.00

These storage jars are beautiful, they will sit happily as display pieces but also have a useful function. They are made by artisans in Malawi and have practicality built in from the start: they are actually made from empty wine bottles collected from local restaurants, but please banish any thoughts of student-style wine bottle decor.

These have been shaped and filed and the lids are made from hand-carved mahogany. Every lid is unique, with a design that works with the natural wood grain. They reach us via Qäsa Qäsa who partner with organisations across Africa to support craft businesses, allowing workers to make a sustainable living and to ensure traditional techniques are not lost.

Qäsa Qäsa work with artisans and craftspeople all over East Africa to produce homewares that are as well made as they are beautiful. The designs favoured by founders Aniqa and Naeema are bold, simple and exquisite to look at.

These jars, made by the highly skilled People of the Sun collective, are particular favourites, being eye-catching without being overly showy.

21cm height x 7.5cm diameter (approx)

Please note the jars are £42 per unit.
