African blackwood lemon squeezer

£26.00

Lemon squeezers provoke a surprising amount of high feeling amongst serious cooks (we have a friend who just raises a hand for silence if the Phillippe Starck one is ever even mentioned). However, this lemon squeezer many finally be the thing to unite the waring factions.

Made from African blackwood and carved freehand by the craftsmen in Qäsa Qäsa’s workshop in Tanzania, this not only gets every drop of juice out, but is solid enough to last a lifetime.

Qasa Qasa work with artisans and craftspeople all over East Africa to produce homewares that are as well made as they are beautiful. The designs favoured by founders Aniqa and Naeema are bold, simple and exquisite to look at.

The pieces we’ve chosen are only the start of what they have to offer.

Material: African Blackwood from Tanzania

Each piece takes a day to make and is exquisitely carved by The Makonde Wood Carvers, who are renowned for their craftsmanship. Each one has its own unique wood grain, showcasing the raw natural beauty of African Blackwood. The carvers use a traditional freehand technique, passed down for generations from father to son, that allows them to have more control of the shape so they can achieve a distinctly sculpted finish.
