Little Sun solar lamp

£25.50

How often do you get to buy an object designed by someone who has exhibited at the Tate Modern? Olafur Eliasson is one of the best-known artists working today. His work is often centred around climate change and Little Sun is how he and partner Frederik Ottesen are trying to help.

The lamps are solar powered, giving five hours of bright light or 40 hours of dim light after five hours charging. They make wonderful nightlights and are great in the garden. For every Little Sun bought, another is donated to a rural household in Ethiopia.

Little Sun’s work is an example of good design changing lives. The lights they give away allow communities without electricity to have clean, free light. That means children can study. Doctors and midwives can work. It also means there’s less pollution from oil and fewer trees are cut down, helping with the problem of deforestation.

A Little Sun light is good looking, practical and right for today’s world. We think it should be considered a design classic.

Battery: AA LiFePO4, 3.2V rechargeable battery with 500 mAh
