Birch Broom with short handle

£25.00

This short-handled broom is easy to grab for quick jobs around the house and it looks good enough to be left out somewhere grabbable. It’s made from birchwood and bassine - which, fun fact, is a coarse fibre made from the leaves of the palmyra palm and a traditional material for brooms and brushes.

Each Iris Hantverk brush is handmade in Sweden or Estonia by a person with a visual impairment. The company has been running since 1870 and operating as a social enterprise since 2012. This isn’t just about creating jobs either, it’s about valuing traditional craft skills and appreciating the beauty of everyday objects.

All of the Iris Hantverk objects feel good in the hand. They are solid where they need to be and soft where they need to be. They are also exceptionally well-made. We think their simple designs bring a sense of quiet joy and satisfaction to every day tasks.

Brush making by visually impaired people has a long tradition across northern Europe, so while Iris Hantverk provides practical, modern jobs it’s also preserving a piece of history that’s valued by everyone involved.
