There is a tactile intentionality behind every bag produced by Peckham Cloth. It begins in the fields of Kerala, where GOTS-certified organic cotton is grown in healthy, pesticide-free soil and woven on household power looms. From there, the journey moves to a small studio in South London. Here, the cloth is hand-printed using traditional Indian wooden blocks and eco-friendly inks, before being infused with a signature blend of natural beeswax, pine resin, and organic jojoba oil.
Founded by Hannah Cleaton-Roberts, Peckham Cloth was born from a desire to marry a lifelong love for beautiful textiles with the desire to help every household live more sustainably. Every material choice on the way contributes to this mission—from the traditional crop rotation techniques used by her cotton farmers to the recycled, plastic-free packaging used for the final product.
Why they are different:
Peckham Cloth takes the ancient art of block printing and applies it to the modern zero-waste kitchen. Their bread bags aren’t just functional; they are hardwearing and beautiful. Unlike plastic or standard cloth, their specific beeswax and resin treatment allows bread to breathe, keeping your sourdough fresh and its crust perfectly crisp for longer. It is also fully biodegradable, so when the bag finally reaches the end of its long life, it doesn’t go to a landfill—it goes into your compost.
Why they are kind:
Their kindness extends from the soil to the sky. By sourcing organic cotton, Peckham Cloth supports farmers who save their own seeds and protect local water supplies from chemical runoff. But the impact goes further: for every product sold, they plant a tree with OneTreePlanted. Their current focus is on restoring the rainforests of Indonesia—a vital biodiversity hotspot for orangutans and sun bears that has been devastated by palm oil plantations and logging. By choosing Peckham Cloth, you are directly helping to reforest some of the most carbon-rich landscapes on the planet.
