Lavender beeswax Murgan candles
It's all about fire and water. These four pretty candles will burn bright for around 26 hours each and are housed in terracotta pots, scaled down versions of the ones used by women in the Indian state of Utter Pradesh to carry water back from wells.
These Murgan candles smell of lavender, with a hint of vanilla and beeswax and are produced in India by the workforce of Dalit.
Dalit the organisation work with Dalit people, those at the bottom of India’s caste system. Sales of the products provide funding to help house and educate street children.
They are beautiful candles and - in our experience - look great lined up along a mantlepiece or decorating a dinner table. (Also from our own experience: they will need to be on a heat resistant surface, as they get quite warm.)
Ingredients: beeswax & lavender with vanilla, pot terracotta, packaging cardboard & paper
Burn Time approximately 20 Hours each. It can get hot when burning, please place a protective mat underneath the candles. For best results, each time after burning, trim the burnt portion of the wick and keep the wax pool free of debris.
The pot is handmade in India by the Dalit community, the candle is hand-poured by Dalit women in Dalit's small production unit before being packed and shipped to England.
