Ocelot Blood Orange 70% Dark Chocolate Bar
Ocelot’s chocolate bars don’t make promises they can’t keep. Their packaging is astoundingly well-designed and, in this case, you can absolutely judge a chocolate bar by its wrapping.
This bar is inspired by a classic favourite, the chocolate orange. But this a far more sophisticated package. The beans that make this smooth dark chocolate are grown in Virunga National Park, Eastern Congo - best known as being one of the few places rare mountain gorillas can be spotted in the wild.
Ocelot are also supplied by Original Beans, an organisation dedicated to making the practice of cacao growing fair and sustainable. Farmers are paid a living income and are also involved in tree planting programmes, regenerating the forests they live in.
We’ve noticed that a lot of chocolate producers, these days, make claims about how ethical their products are. And, whilst we love to see people starting to move in the right direction, we always want to make sure we get the best of the best in terms of taste and ethics.
We know that, in Ocelot, we’ve found that. The care and attention lavished on their products is incredible and their values are ones we wholeheartedly support.
Cocoa is sourced from Original Beans, based in Amsterdam, who ensure that the cocoa farmers are given the fair trade and resources that enable them to focus on producing healthy, high quality cocoa and that they are able to not only look after their own families, but also protect the environment and communities around them.
This is an occasion where eating more chocolate is definitely a good thing.
